Four-time Grammy winner, Lenny White, co-created
some of the most influential music over the past
four decades and collaborated with some of jazz
music’s greatest artists including Miles Davis,
Freddie Hubband, Ron Carter and Joe Henderson. Along
with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Al Di Meola, he
helped define Jazz-Fusion with the Grammy Award
winning group ‘Return to Forever.”
Alternating between drummer and producer, Lenny is
always on the cutting edge. His producing talents
have been sampled by Nancy Wilson, Chaka Khan, Diane
Reeves, Rachelle Ferelle and Marlena Shaw to name
but a few - as well as ‘Pieces of a Dream’ with
Grover Washington, Gato Barbieri, Wayne Shorter,
Wallace Roney and hip-hop artist Big Daddy Kane.
With fellow “Jamaica Boy’ band member and great
producer Marcus Miller, Lenny co-scored the music
for Reginald Hudlin’s critically and financially
successful film. “House Party.” And Lenny had a hand
in the soundtrack for Spike Lee’s film ‘School
Daze.”
Currently touring with several
different bands, Lenny continues to push the
envelope with Patrice Rushen, Victor Bailey,
Foley and Bennie Maupin while promoting their recent
release on BFM jazz ‘Lenny White Live’ recorded in
1997 with Donald Blackman and Mark Ledford.
Another current touring project includes the
acclaimed Neapolitan chanteuse Letizia Gambi with
cello, bandoleon, bass, piano, sax and of course
Lenny on drums. Her freshman release ‘Introducing
Letizia Gambi’ was produced by Lenny and features
Ron Carter, Chick Corea, Wallace Roney, Gato
Barbieri, Gil Goldstein, Patrice Rushen and Lenny.
