"Cochran is a historically grounded, extravagantly pianistic, and instinctively lyrical. His sense of style is so personal and deep it becomes art in itself.
- Thomas Conrad, Stereophile

Todd Cochran (TC3) is an American pianist, composer, keyboardist, essayist, and conceptual artist. He has been part of a vibrant artistic community, collaborating with many artists, including Maya Angelou, Peter Gabriel, Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke, Bobby Hutcherson, and Freddie Hubbard, among others.

After some years of not touring, one of Todd’s deferred ambitions was to again have a working acoustic jazz trio of piano, bass and drums with two of his favorite musicians, John Leftwich/bass and Lyndon Rochelle/drums. Todd’s most recent recording is a concept album of jazz standards and songs from the American songbook titled "Then and Again, Here and Now." Each piece is a snapshot of the socio-cultural setting in which they were written.

Yet and still, in the hands of his current trio, the music is given an altogether fresh look, contemporized and reimagined for the 21st century. As an innovative, visionary, forward-leaning composer, Todd’s uniquely original jazz compositions enlarge the thematic experience and creative range of the trio’s performances. To this end, his musical art reflects a deep concern about our world’s uncertainties and an ever-present optimism for rapid,
hopeful transformations. In live performance the music expands exponentially with the band’s virtuosity on full display. The trio’s concept appropriately represents a nod to and elaboration of jazz legacy in combination with the persistently evolving new – so, in concert, there is constant generational interplay.

"The Duke"

"I’ve always seen myself as a colorist, joining sounds and tones – like a sculptor molds shapes and lines or a painter places light within a texture. Many of the things I seek to do with music are things I’ve observed in other art forms. Jazz is about spontaneous creativity and stretching the imagination and this, I believe, is what makes it one of the most spiritual art forms."
