Kenny Werner

Kenny Werner is a world-class pianist and composer. His prolific output of compositions, recordings and publications continue to impact audiences around the world.

In 2010 he was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship Award for his seminal work, No Beginning No End which is a musical journey exploring tragedy and loss, death and transition, and the path from one lifetime to the next. Utilizing over 70 musicians, Kenny’s third album for Half Note Records is an expansive composition featuring Joe Lovano, Judy Silvano, Wind Ensemble, Choir and String Quartet.

“Perfection. 360 degrees of soul and science in one human being. My kind of musician.”
- Quincy Jones

“a pianist who tempers fearsome technique with a questing spiritualism”
- Nate Chinen, The New York Times

“Mr. Werner is a clear virtuoso, and when he solos there’s wit everywhere, with clichés dragged out of the closet to poke fun at or rhythmic bumps added for humor.”
Peter Watrous, New York Times

“Whether soloing or interpreting, Werner takes you outside, but not by any route you’ve followed before. You never know where he’s going, but every place he takes you is a delight.” – Keyboard Magazine

“Werner has become one of our most literate and visceral pianists.”JAZZTIMES

“Werner owns more chops and brains than most pianists do….Werner hardly raises his voice to make subtle points, couching his logic in neat vamps, sinewy angular lines, dizzying rhythmic double entendres.”Down Beat

Jean-Michel Pilc

Called a genius and a titan by the press, Jean-Michel Pilc is a completely unique voice in jazz piano. Entirely self-taught, his astounding technique and extensive musical perspective allows him to cover an amazing range of atmospheres, colors and feelings. His sound and touch are recognizable from the very first note, and once hooked, you cannot escape his spell.

Kenny Werner calls him "an innovator who has spurred a new breed of young adventurous pianists and is a hero to many young musicians."

“A dazzlingly inventive pianist.” - Nate Chinen, The New York Times

"His densely harmonic reinventions of standards you thought you knew clearly shows a musical genius at work." - Eric Brace, Washington Post

"Mr. Pilc seems to have dropped from the sky fully formed, with technique and his ideas in place. He is a physical and densely harmonic player, a splashy stunner who also has a Rubik's-cube mind for chord substitutions." - Ben Ratliff, The New York Times

"Follow Me" stands a major summation of Pilc's keyboard art, which has no counterparts. Pilc ranks among today's titans of the instrument... there's more to his art than the speed, precision and power of his 10 phenomenal fingers." - Howard Reich, Chicago Tribune
